This bar has fabulous cleansing power for even the oiliest hair types, while the nourishing oils in the bar leave your hair feeling soft and smooth! All-natural, moisturizing, ingredients and essential oils will work to soothe your scalp, reduce itching and flaking, strengthen hair and gently clean while removing residue from common cleansers.

Infused Sunflower Petals and Sunflower Oil are fabulous additions to this bar and can often be found in high-end products to condition and add a lovely shine to your locks. This bar has a higher amount of organic, unrefined Coconut Oil and Castor Oil which produces thick, luxurious suds.  The citrusy essential oil blend of Orange, Lemon and Grapefruit lends a wonderful scent, as well as giving a boost of cleaning power and the addition of Honey creates further shine. 

TO USE: Create suds in your hands or rub the soap bar directly onto the roots of your hair and massage into roots to create lather.  Rinse and repeat. You'll notice the shampoo lathers much better the second time as much of the oils and buildup is removed from your hair during the first rinse. This bar moisturizes the hair and further conditioning is not usually necessary, although it is recommended to follow up occasionally with a 50/50 apple cider vinegar/water rinse. This is an alternative to using conditioner and it neutralizes the PH level of the scalp, helping your hair grow in thick and healthy, while also softening it further. A great tip is to leave a small spray bottle of the apple cider vinegar rinse in your shower to use occasionally.

If you have hard water, I definitley recommend following the wash with the apple cider vinegar rinse to help soften the hair and remove buildup from the hard water. Alternatively, with long or curly hair, you can lightly condition the ends with a separate leave-in conditioner.

If possible, try to use a soap dish that drains water away from the soap bar and allows it to dry out between uses. Doing this will help the bar maintain its hardness and increase the longevity of the bar.

Everything I purchase from Niagara is fantastic. I will be ordering later this week. I love the gifts and gracious notes that are so sweet. I am planning on lots of Christmas gifts coming from Niagara. I haven't yet tried the Sweet Orange Sunflower Bar. I started on the other one first.

This soap lathered really nicely and my hair felt great the day of. The day after it felt heavy and limp. Not sure if I did something wrong.

Not everyone goes through this, but some people do have a transition period when switching to all natural hair care. The short answer is to rinse with a 50/50 solution of Apple cider vinegar & water during the transition period, and then I recommend this every few weeks (even when using regular shampoo) to help balance the follicles pH.

The only shampoo I use now

Unbelievable! Can't handle the bottled stuff anymore. I now buy this bar in multiples so I won't run out like I did after my first bar.
I have short hair and my hair feels so clean and no oily scalp. I now don't wash my hair every day.
I store my "in use" bar in a organza bag in the shower, don't even take it out to use. No waste. You need to try, but beware....you will never want to go back to your old shampoo.

Amazing Shampoo Bar

I have been searching for an environmentally clean, healthy shampoo option for for a long time. One that came in a bar form to eliminate plastics and one that was actually going to clean my hair without unwanted chemicals. I came across a display of Niagara Homespun products a few months ago. I researched the ingredients and loved that it was also plastic free. I bought a bar to try and was really happy with it. I then bought a few more bars and cut them up as samples for a number of friends. They all loved the shampoo bar as well. I have medium length hair and this bar cleans my hair very well, leaving it soft and manageable. I also use an apple cider vinegar rinse once in a while for the added benefits. Lianne, the shampoo magician ;) has perfected this recipe! Plus, it is incredibly inexpensive and made in the Niagara Region of Canada! What’s not to love! Give the Sweet Orange and Sunflower Shampoo bar a try. You won’t be disappointed. We have all placed orders for more products!
